I recently completed my second half-marathon (13.1 miles, 21.08km) with at time of 1 hour 42 minutes 11 seconds, that's an 7:48 min/mile pace (and 2 minutes 40 seconds better than my first). I ran both half-marathons significantly faster than my previous 10k and 13k records.
My Watch
Between runs 24 & 25 I purchased the Timex Bodylink Watch/Speed+Distance Sensor/Heart rate Monitor. It allows all kinds of numbers to be collected. It uses a GPS device to calculate distance and speed. Now I don't have to run at a track to get accurate distance measurements; I can run anywhere.
Running Value
Running Value is my attempt to compare various runs of different distances. The problem is that since a shorter distance means a faster pace, pace alone is not a good way to compare different length
runs. The first constant was calculated by setting value equal to 1.00 and inserting a distance of 2.6km and a 4:32 min/km pace (7:17 min/mile). The second was chosen rather subjectively by making the values of several different (but as equally difficult) length runs equal.
